This wine was created with a combination of Merlot grapes in the area of Karmei Yosef and Gadera. The grapes from Karmei Yosef(Heyman vineyard) contributed to the special taste of the wine. This wine and its older sibling from 2000 won the 1st place in the wine competition of Eshkol Hazahav(the wine Oscar in Israel) and was defined by the specialists from the top row as the “Best Merlot that has been made in Israel” and got the score of 93 by the judges.

4.17 – The Merlot 2001 is in the Heavy weight category in my opinion, and is very special.
It is different to its older siblings in its complexity of taste. The wine aged
in the bottle for 13 years and is suitable for consumption now, or it can be
aged for a further of 2-3 years.
